Hmong Spirituality - EVOLVING SPIRITUALITY

While many Hmong continue to hold onto their traditional beliefs, including the belief in a special role for shaman to guide them through life, Hmong spirituality is evolving. A number second and third generation Hmong are changing and adapting their beliefs, some through conversion to various faiths and others by integrating traditional Hmong beliefs with other religious traditions.

A 2006 article from Hmong News Today claims that the largest Hmong organization in the world is the Christian Missionary Alliance, with over 30.000 members and 84 Hmong CMA churches. (see http://www.hmongtoday.com/displaynews.asp?ID=2323 )   Hmong are converting to other religions as well, including Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, and Latter Day Saints (Mormon)
