The Institute sponsors an annual Fellowship Program for UW Colleges and UW-Extension. Fellows receive course release time or equivalent compensation to undertake a project that addresses community concerns or engages the public in some meaningful way. The first Institute Fellow is UW-Marathon County

Professor Brown and the Wisconsin Institute have partnered with Aspirus Wausau Hospital, the WiCell Research Institute, and the Wisconsin Humanities Council to organize a professional conference,“The Science and Medicine of Stem Cell Research, followed by a public forum, “The Ethics of Stem Cell Research,” both to be held on April 22, 2008 in Wausau, Wisconsin.
