Hmong American Political Participation Project
Begun during the academic year 2006-2007, this ongoing collaborative project was instituted to survey Hmong-American political participation in Marathon County and to design programming to educate the target community on the process of voter registration, voting, and other forms of civic participation. Led by the non-profit organization Kids Voting USA-Wisconsin, partners included the Wausau Area Hmong Mutual Association, the Department of Public Instruction, UW-Marathon County, Wausau Insurance, the Wausau Daily Herald, Marathon County, and the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin. The project created additional educational value by offering service-learning opportunities for high school and college students.
